Victor ChandlerThe Victor Chandler group (VC) is one of the world’s leading independent bookmaking and gaming groups with customers in over 70 countries across the world and, in 2002, could boast an annual turnover in excess of £500 million. Headquartered in Gibraltar and with offices around the world, the group offers international online and telephone sports betting opportunities and web-based gaming in several languages and tailored to each individual market. Customers range from those who enjoy a relatively small gamble on their favourite TV sport to some of the biggest players in the world. The Usability Company was employed by Victor Chandler for User Interface (UI) and User Centered Design (User Centered Design) services. The objective was to build these capabilities in order to make incremental improvements to the existing Victor Chandler site and to inform the development of the future Victor Chandler site. The case study below, outlining the work carried out by The Usability Company to refine the online offering of international bookmaker Victor Chandler, demonstrates the commercial benefits brought by User Centered Design or User Centered Design in putting the user experience at the heart of the design process from a project’s inception. User Centered Design involves scientifically structuring your content so that it is more logical for the users. This case study illustrates how getting a thorough understanding of usability implications before and during the building process not only considerably reduces development costs and timelines but also increases revenue. Following the completion of the User Centered Design and the user evaluations by The Usability Company, Victor Chandler experienced a 50% increase in bets taken through the web site, amongst other benefits.
