We use the latest and best facilities, hardware and software on the market in our usability research. This means we can turn projects around rapidly, add the maximum value and best possible Return on Investment (ROI).

Usability Labs 

We own state of the art usability labs. They are sound proof with large double-glazed one-way mirrors. This allows clients to see, hear and discuss user behaviours in complete anonymity. Our labs are equipped with the latest sound recording and video equipment. The user room can be modified to create a living room or work environment. 

Portable Lab(s)

Our portable labs are used in situations where it is not feasible to use the main usability lab or if a client would prefer to run usability tests at their location. All of the hardware necessary can be transported easily and a lab can be set up in less than 30 minutes. We use our portable labs often when testing Intranet designs.

Data Collection Software

We use specially developed software for the collection and analysis of user behaviours. The users' browser is adapted to simultaneously capture user comments, behaviour, and live interactions with the site. Behaviours can be coded before the test and each event during the test is time-stamped and written to a file. Cross correlations can be made between different test users or different tasks. The software can be deployed on a client's beta or live site - all without IT involvement and it is not intrusive for the user.

Video editing software

All the user's on-screen interactions and facial expressions (and remote control use if required) is captured to create digital files of all tests showing the test as a picture-in-picture format (i.e. main part showing the screen and a smaller image of the user). Each test is edited to create short video clips of the most important aspects of the tests. These videos are provided to the client on CD-ROM.

WebIQ

WebIQ is a tool that allows online usability research. Unlike traditional pop-up surveys, WebIQ presents questions intelligently by combining data from various inputs and asking questions based on the relationship between them. Clients can access real-time reports on individual and aggregated responses to context specific questions, free form comments and suggestions, quantitative ratings and rankings and a complete website click stream path by visitor. Wireless Device Camera

We use a specialised camera that enables the capture of very small screens (e.g. PDA's, mobile phones) at very high resolutions. Any user interaction can be captured in much the same way as our usability labs capture interaction from PC or TV screens.
