This association is the accredited UK arm of the US UPA. The CEO of The Usability Company and Head of Usability Practice are both members of the UK Board. The UPA has aims which encompass the spread of best usability practice across the industry.

The Usability Professionals Association in the United States.

a good source of independent information on the subject of usability testing for web sites.

ACM SGI on Computer-Human Interaction: www.acm.org/sigchi/hci-sites
The Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas amongst people working in the design, evaluation, implementation, and study of interactive computing systems.

British HCI Group: www.bcs-hci.org.uk
The British HCI Group are the longest established and largest national group in Europe devoted to HCI.

Bobby: www.cast.org/bobby
Bobby is a web-based tool that analyses web pages for their accessibility to people with disabilities. It is provided by the Centre for Applied Special Technology - a non-profit organisation that uses technology to expand opportunities for all people including those with disabilities.

Human-Computer Interaction Resource Network: www.hcirn.com
Founded in 1997, the HCIRN aims to provide HCI professionals with relevant, accurate and timely information on HCI theories, methods, practices and resources.

Internet Technology Group: www.internettg.org
The ITG is a community for organisations who share a common interest in Internet technologies and related behavioural phenomena.

STC Usability SGI: stc.org/pics/usability
The Society for Technical Communication Usability Special Interest Group, focuses on issues related to the usability and usability assessment of technical communication, providing a forum in which STG members can share information.

The Usability Professional's Association was founded in 1991 in order to promote usability concepts and techniques worldwide.

The World Wide Web Consortium develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential as a forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding.

A frequently updated portal for information design resources on the web. This site contains interviews, newsflashes, industry and journal articles, plus many other interesting and relevant resources.

This site is a good resource for designing usable and useful interactive systems. Users can be alerted of site updates (which unfortunately are not on a regular basis) through email.
